Aluminized Kapton®, also known as PI or polyimide film, is suitable for use as an outermost MLI layer or a single-layer Flexible Optical Solar Reflector (FOSR). It is ideal for medium-to-long duration missions with an operating temperature range of -269°C to 290°C. This product features an SiO₂ coating to mitigate atomic oxygen (AO) erosion, followed by an electrically conductive Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) coating to control spacecraft surface charging.
