ITO & SiO₂ Coated Aluminized Kapton®, also known as PI or polyimide film, is implemented as an outermost MLI layer or a single-layer insulation layer. It has an exceptional operating temperature range of -185°C to 260°C. This product features an SiO₂ coating to mitigate atomic oxygen (AO) erosion, followed by an electrically conductive Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) coating to control spacecraft surface charging. On-orbit degradation is well-characterized by NASA, ESA, and JAXA in flight literature.

SQUID3 Space™ MLI materials are manufactured under a certified ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System facility. Complete material and manufacturing lot records, which include archive samples of finished product, are maintained by SQUID3. All products are shipped with a Certificate of Analysis.
