šœ¶STRIDā„¢ Passes NASA Low Outgassing Standard

At SQUID3 Space, we engineer and provide thermal solutions for time-critical missions and dynamic space operations. We are thrilled to announce that šœ¶STRIDā„¢, our adaptable thermal control tape, has passed NASAā€™s low outgassing standards (ASTM E595). This significant achievement underscores our dedication to meeting the highest industry requirements, ensuring that our products perform reliably in the harsh environment of space.

Understanding the Importance of Low Outgassing

Outgassing is a critical factor in the performance of materials used in spacecraft and satellites. When exposed to the vacuum of space, materials can release trapped gases, which can condense on sensitive surfaces like optics, sensors, or solar panels, potentially impairing their functionality. NASAā€™s low outgassing requirements, defined under the ASTM E595 standard, is designed to ensure that materials used in space applications release minimal volatile compounds, thereby preserving the performance and longevity of space systems.

Meeting this standard is no small feat, as it involves rigorous testing to verify that the material exhibits a Total Mass Loss (TML) of less than 1.00% and a Collected Volatile Condensable Material (CVCM) of less than 0.10%.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate this milestone, we remain focused on our mission to further qualify our product. SQUID3 Space has an ongoing TVAC testing campaign happening at the NewSpace Nexus Launchpad Facility. Stay tuned for more updates.
